STYLE GURU STYLE: Fresher Than The Prince

This retro style is inspired by none other than the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Baggy, retro-inspired tops, offset by tight bottoms, have been spotted on the SYJP runway recently. These stylish outfits are perfect for class, errands or just lounging around; they are casual and insanely comfortable, but are more fashionable than your traditional sweatpants and T-shirts.

The first necessity for perfecting this look is a retro-inspired sweatshirt. I chose one with logos from the 1991 World Cup and a sponsoring company on the front. Any simple, loose T-shirt works best for this look. Here, I chose a thick, striped color-block shirt with bright pink and light purple offsetting the white color. Another shirt I love to wear with this outfit is a solid maroon T-shirt. For a more summery look, opt for a crop top, instead.

So you don’t look straight out of Philly, try a pair of black leggings or yoga pants instead of neon parachute pants. Another option that would maintain the same vibe would be a pair of light wash high-waisted jeans, cuffed at the ankles.

My favorite part of this outfit is the shoe-sock combination. Any high-top sneakers would work, but my favorite are these white Vans. I like these better than Converse because less people have them and they are much comfier, with slightly wider soles. I chose these white socks with little puppies on them to spice things up as they peek out from the high-top shoes. For winter, wear thicker socks. For sporty socks, get some with stripes. To really bring the heat, check out these socks.

With this stylish outfit, there is no doubt you will be as fresh as the Prince himself, if not fresher.

Get My Look: 1. White high-top Vans. 2. Fun socks. 3. Retro sweatshirt.
