STYLE GURU STYLE: Fresh and Feminine

Putting together a cute and comfortable work outfit during the warmer months can present some struggles for us girls. In Diane von Furstenberg’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, she emphasized ways to create very stylish, feminine and reliable ensembles for work and business settings. While not every look in this collection was appropriate for the office (i.e. the looks with bra tops and others showing a little extra skin), each look gave off a very put together and clean vibe. She stuck with a simple color palettes throughout, which were mostly black and white, pops of emerald green and the occasional navy and pink.

Taking inspiration from Diane von Furstenberg’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I put together a look that I would feel comfortable wearing in an office or business setting while keeping it extremely feminine and modern. Just like in her collection, I stuck with a simple color palette with a solid black tank top tucked into a solid black pencil skirt—one thing that was shown “in excess” in von Furstenberg’s collection was lots and lots of leg. I topped it off with my favorite seersucker blazer from J.Crew. I finished with my favorite brown Michael Kors cross-body bag and my matte nude pumps. I added a simple brown and gold watch to slightly accessorize but keep the look simple and professional. Of course, there is nothing I love more than an awesome pair of sunglasses, so I threw on my favorite oversized kate spade new york sunglasses.

While this collection was considered a bit more edgy than her other collections, I love the way Diane von Furstenberg made such classy and timeless pieces so modern and feminine. She created looks that were more revealing in some places and more conservative in others. The looks in the collection all showed the perfect amount of edge while still remaining classy and timeless.

Get My Look: 1. Put on your favorite solid colored pencil skirt. 2. Throw on a solid colored tank that matches. 3. Find a simple blazer to compliment. 4. Add nude heels. 5. Finish with a neutral cross-body bag, watch and sunglasses.
