STYLE GURU STYLE: Flower Power Baby

The romantic fairytale spin of Sarah Burton’s line for the Alexander McQueen spring 2016 read-to-wear collection exemplifies the style I want to strut this spring. Why do I love this collection? It’s simply beautiful. The assortment of clothing incorporates a fresh appeal of chic and strong prints with many ruffles, puffy sleeves and flowers. A substantial amount of these elements are seen in almost each piece, showing the much softer look of Sarah Burton’s flair. Influenced by the Victorian era, the bits of flouncy, floral and embellishment pieces scream spring. The cascading ruffles and flower-strewn patterns speak for themselves. Feeling beautiful is made easy in these relaxed, “of-the-season” runway inspirations.

Rest assured, spring is finally here, and there is no better time to rock floral! This season, I am prepared to be in the garden state of mind and style with lush flower patterns. This pattern perfectly captures the season and brightens up my wardrobe. Whether I want to update my closet to be trendier for a stroll through the streets of Barcelona or dress fancy for a night out, indulging in a floral piece is always a good idea. Even better, floral heels, earrings or hair bands can make any of my looks fun and feminine. Showing off my personal style is easy with a superb range of floral prints and allows me to embrace my look and reflect my favorite season. For this outfit, I decided to focus my floral pattern on my dress. I absolutely love the style of if it because of the slimming yet flowy silhouette. And do not forget, I am currently abroad in Barcelona, so the ruffle sleeves are a must in this city. Like Alexander McQueen and the flamenco dancers of Barcelona, I embraced the ruffle trend to make my outfit more fun and playful.

Those who know me, know that accessorizes are my staple. To balance my floral dress pattern, I accessorized with three basic colors: black, gold and beige. To make my look more chic, I spiced up my style with knee-high socks. Not only do my feet stay warm during the chilly spring weather, they also add a little *oomp* to my outfit! I love how my socks add a fun visual interest without overbearing my statement dress. Continuing to accessorize my look, I added a black over-the-shoulder bag with gold embellishments, which perfectly complements my black knee-high socks. The final key touches are my necklace, sunglasses and black suede heels. I cannot walk out of my room without sporting at least two of these! My overall outfit works effortlessly in Barcelona because of the feminine, fun and stylish pieces that make it easy to wear shopping during the day or grabbing a cocktail by the water at night!
