STYLE GURU STYLE: Flower Power

Ever since I read Diane von Furstenberg’s memoir, I have become obsessed not only with her, but with the clothes that she makes as well. For this particular look, I have taken inspiration from the Diane von Furstenberg resort 2016 collection by wearing a pair of ‘70s-esque floral bell-bottom pants. With this collection, Furstenberg presents many looks that include floral prints and beautiful black and white blouses that give off the ‘70s vibe that she was going for.

I took my inspiration straight from Look five in the collection, where the model pairs floral print pants with a solid color blouse. So, in order to combat the print on my pants, I added an off-white tank top to the outfit. Instead of just having a plain white top, I made sure that there was some sort of accent to give the outfit a bit more flair. The tank top I’m wearing has a lace accent on the hem of the shirt, which is a style that I’m a big fan of.

I’ve never really been a fan of going back in time and experimenting with trends from other decades, but with the ‘70s trends coming back in full force, I couldn’t help but take a chance and experiment. So, with this look, my goal was to attempt to modernize a look that was presented in Diane Von Furstenburg’s collection. In order to make the look modern and unique, I added a cream-colored wedge and a sunhat to add a fun accessory, but also to block the stifling summer sun.

I kept my makeup and accessories rather simple for this look because I didn’t want to take away from the outfit. My makeup is simple so that it won’t sweat off in the heat, but I kept my lipstick matte so that it can last all day and night. All together, this look is on trend but it’s also a great look for a day out in the summer.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of floral pants. 2. An off-white tank top with accent on the hem. 3. A pair of high wedges.
