STYLE GURU STYLE: Florals and More Florals

Flowers have always been associated with femininity, and most designers understand that women just want to express themselves and show the world how empowering they are. Bold floral dresses are a way for women to express their feminine side, to be both flirty and innocent at the same time. There is something about flowers that brings us back to our early years and makes us feel girly and romantic. Designer Oscar de la Renta’s resort 2016 collection was full of florals and feminine ensembles that embody what it feels like to be a feminine woman.

While looking at the pieces from the show, I realized that a lot of what I wear is meant to make me feel girly and pretty. A lot of my clothes have flowers or other feminine touches like belted waists, something that Oscar de la Renta’s collection emphasized. I realized when I put on my floral belted dress, light pink flatform sandals and round shaped sunglasses that I was going for a cute, girly look that made me feel feminine and ready to take on a warm summer day.

This outfit is a more casual, street style take on Oscar de la Renta’s collection. You can wear this as your everyday look, for an afternoon with the girls or even for a walk in the park. It’s a look that is appropriate for many events, and it will fit in perfectly with the season and all the blooming flowers.
