STYLE GURU STYLE: All About Florals

May 10th, 2017 at 2:00am

It’s about that time of the year to pull out your floral garments because it is officially spring! With the weather getting hotter each weak, it’s fair enough to say that you can officially start wearing shorts and crop tops without seeming ridiculous.

For this article, I decided to write about my own personal spring style. I typically choose to keep things simple when the weather is warmer because I don’t want several layers weighing me down. The winter is my time to pile as many cool neutral or monochromatic clothing on my body as possible, but in the spring and summer I prefer to keep it light and colorful.

For this look, I decided to wear my favorite high-waisted, woven cotton shorts and a plain black, jersey knit crop top.The shorts are great because they are lightweight and have pockets to hold my things when I don’t want to carry around a purse or jacket. With its pink floral print pattern, the shorts add that much needed fun pop of color and spring flare to my outfit.

I love this really basic black crop top. Honestly, I think it should be a staple in every girls spring and summer wardrobe. Having a plain black crop top means that you can easily dress it up or down, wear colorful bottoms, or crazy jewelry. It’s a great essential because you can easily pair it with anything you want. The unique part about this crop top is that it’s a spaghetti strap halter top that ties around your neck in the back. Thus, the crop top drops lower on your back and will show off some of that sexy, glowing skin! By pairing high-waisted shorts with a crop top, you can keep the look a little more conservative, as opposed to if you paired the crop top with low mid-waist pants that showed off the entirety of your stomach.

To finish off the look, I decided to wear my high-top, white Converse sneakers and a funky leather studded bracelet. The jewelry and sneakers give the look a little bit of that “cool-girl” vibe.
