STYLE GURU STYLE: Floral Motifs

Floral prints upon floral prints. No matter which way the fashion industry goes, it seems that there’s always at least one trend that incorporates this complex yet classic style. I’ve always enjoyed wearing florals, from headbands to dresses, but they were especially useful during my recent tropical getaway to the Hawaiian Islands.

Using Giambattista Valli’s resort 2017 collection as inspiration, I chose to wear a floral jersey dress to keep my look in style but laid back enough for the casual scenes of Hawaii. When I’m traveling, I like to stick to simple outfits that still look put together for any occasion. I usually resort to packing dresses and rompers that can serve as whole outfits. It saves a lot of space when you don’t have to pack shirts and shorts. I also pack neutral jewelry, shoes and other accessories that can be worn with most if not all of the outfits that I pack in my suitcase.

I pack simple makeup such as the necessities like mascara and foundation, a simple eye shadow palette and neutral lip colors. These options make it a lot easier to get ready in the morning and free my morning schedule to get an early start on my plans for the day. I recommend pairing a floral dress like this with a neutral and lightweight purse when traveling so that it can easily fit into a carry-on bag and it won’t weigh you down during days that involve a lot of walking.

What I love most about floral prints is that many of them can be carried into the next season. For example, this dress could be worn with a brown belt tied around the waist, tall brown riding boots and a cream-colored sweater for fall.
