Alexander Wang’s resort 2015 collection is edgy, dark and mysterious. The collection consists mostly of structured black pieces, paired with high contrast tops and accessories. Summer seems to feel a lot more like winter here in Washington, so this collection is perfect for the dreary cloud covered days we’ve had recently. I love how edgy this collection is, but how it isn’t too serious with the small touches of color throughout various ensembles. Look sixteen is my personal favorite, and I think it really sums up the collection well.
To make the looks in Wang’s collection an everyday reality, it is best to stick with mostly black pieces matched with neon accessories. Recreating Wang’s sixteenth look in his lookbook was simple. The most important item to own is a pair of neon floral boots. I paired my floral boots with leather pants, a black jersey tank top and a black leather jacket. I tried to add texture to the outfit by wearing multiple leather pieces, which make the all black outfit more interesting. I also made sure not to accessorize with any bracelets or necklaces since Wang’s collection was styled very simplistically.
Wang’s resort 2015 show inspired me to re-examine my personal wardrobe and play around more with texture rather than pattern or color. Pulling off an mostly black outfit was a bit out of my comfort zone initially, but in the end I loved how the all black pieces showcased my floral boots.
