STYLE GURU STYLE: Festival Vibes

With summer in full force and festival season in session, festival looks have been taking over street style trends. Coachella has come and gone but there are plenty of other music festivals yet to come, meaning it’s time to hone in on your go-to summer festival outfit. Seeing all the boho looks and gypsy vibes on my favorite street style blogs and runway shows has definitely inspired me to incorporate these festival pieces into my summer wardrobe.

For this look, I decided to take the festival look into my everyday wardrobe. The loose fit and breathable fabric of these paper bag shorts are perfect for the hot summer weather. On top, I paired an oversized woven shirt. I love the grid detailing on this shirt, it makes beating the Florida sun easy. The contrasting colors of this outfit were inspired by this look from Sonia Rykiel’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I am absolutely digging the way the black and army green shades contrast with the white of the outerwear piece in this look.

I wanted to use accessories as a way to add some personality to this look. I threw on a wide-brimmed hat as a way to keep out of the hot Florida sun, plus these hats are super on-trend this season. For jewelry, I kept it simple with a layered necklace that has a distressed feel to it. One of my favorite parts of this outfit is this vintage Cole Haan clutch. The colors of this clutch are wonderful for this season and it’s the perfect alternative to my usual cross-body bag. For shoes, I decided to go with a pair that gave me a little extra height (perfect for seeing over the crowd at your favorite show). These heeled black booties are perfect for any music festival or weekend out on the town.

Get My Look: 1. A great pair of paper bag shorts. 2. A contrasting top. 3. Your favorite pair of heeled booties.
