STYLE GURU STYLE: Festival Season

Not only is the semester coming to an end, but it is also festival season and we are all starting to feel some serious summer vibes. Here in Newport, it is finally starting to feel like spring, but it still isn’t warm and sunny every day, yet. When it is warm, however, I love to take advantage and wear my favorite light, springy pieces.

I may not be going to any festivals this year, but that doesn’t mean I’m not taking fashion inspiration from festivals this season. I love to go for this bohemian style, especially on warmer days. I love clothes that are loose and comfortable, but still fashionable and cool. My Aztec print romper is one of my favorite pieces that looks dressed up, but feels comfortable and keeps me cool. The design is both carefree and fun, featuring a great balance of bright and neutral colors. Rompers, like dresses, can look dressy but also feel breezy and comfortable at the same time, making them my favorite go-to attire on warm days.

Here I paired my romper with a denim jacket. It is windy and still a bit chilly at times on the island, so adding a denim layer is a great idea to keep you warm, but still maintain the bohemian and springy vibe. My shoes are a camel suede bootie style sandal with a chunky heel. The color and fabric are perfect for a bohemian look, not to mention these shoes are super comfortable—perfect for walking all day at a festival or just enjoying the outdoors on a warm day.

Accessories are another important factor I simply cannot skip out on. If you’ve kept up with my articles throughout the semester, you’ll know that I love to highlight a good set of rings. Rings are a super easy and subtle way to add character to a look and accessorize without really accessorizing. Though I am typically a fan of minimizing accessories to just rings, I do occasionally throw in some other jewelry when I’m feeling fancy. Here I am wearing my favorite layered necklace, which creates the nonchalant jewelry look I tend to prefer. In the spirit of festival season, I have also been rocking trendy sunglasses. These rose gold shades are an interesting round shape that have pointed metal corners, making for an actual cat eye effect. Sunglasses with round frames or winged outer corners are both popular trends this season.

My fashion identity has many sides, but dreaming of warm weather, music festivals, and summer vacation totally brings out my hippie side.
