The Saint Laurent’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection is making a sheer and edgy impression on its viewers. With black being the underlying color in most of the looks, Saint Laurent incorporates a variation of color pops, graphic patterns and sheer details into his looks to create a unique feel and edgy vibe.
This collection borders the line between feminine and edgy. Catering to the more girly side, Saint Laurent’s collection contains everything from pink glitz to animal print. By incorporating leather pieces such as jackets and shirts along with sheer garments that bare a little skin, this collection has the potential to draw the attention of a diverse crowd.
By taming the edge and incorporating a bit of femininity, I adapted pieces from my wardrobe to create a look inspired by the Saint Laurent collection. The three key elements that my look reflects from the collection are its use of sheer fabrics, leather and exciting graphics.
My look starts off with a sheer black short-sleeved top containing a neutral graphic pattern. This top could easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. In this case, this top aids in creating a look perfect for a night out with friends.
Incorporating leather into a look often coincides with adding an edgy flair to that look as well. This leather skirt hits mid-waist and flairs at the hips, resulting in a flattering fit.
Accessories are the final variable that completes an outfit. In this case, I chose simple touches to finish off my interpretation of the Saint Laurent collection. I chose three final details: a watch, earrings and a pair of dressy sandals. Watches can serve more purposes than just a time-telling accessory. In this case, this watch serves both the purposes of style and function. A simple pair of silver stud earrings complement the neutral black and white color scheme while matching the silver buckle on the petite-heel dressy sandals. This completed look suits the edgy feminine flair that is seen throughout the Saint Laurent spring 2014 collection.
