STYLE GURU STYLE: Feminine Chic

The recent pre-fall 2015 Public School runway show by designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne certainly made a statement. The unique combination of ensembles portrayed femininity with an edge and the collection played with prints and patterns to create bold looks. The color tones remained mostly neutral with hints of green and blue. The collection was simple, chic and eye-catching. Although I enjoyed many pieces in the fashion show, I was especially drawn to a specific sweater and skirt combination.

I wanted to translate this runway look into an everyday look with a more playful side. To do so, I incorporated a pop of color with the pink in my sweater. I played with textures much like the Public School runway show did, by combining a furry textured sweater with a cotton skirt. My sweater was fitted and more structured just like the look in the collection. Similarly, my skirt was flirty and feminine. I paired my ensemble with black bootie heels to add some chicness to my look.

This look is extremely versatile and perfect for a mixture of occasions! With minor changes I could wear it to go into town, a night out or even to class! I incorporated elements of the Public School collection, while adding a softer side to stay true to my personal style. This fashion show inspired me to sometimes keep my outfits on the simpler side. Simple outfits can at times be the most powerful!

Get my look: 1. A structured sweater. 2. The perfect skirt. 3. Black booties.
