STYLE GURU STYLE: Fall into Fall Fashion

We have successfully made it into one of my favorite sessions of the year: fall!  It’s my favorite season not only because it is socially acceptable to eat/drink anything pumpkin spice or to do anything that involves pumpkins, but also because I can pull out all of my favorite comfy and cozy jackets and sweaters.

With fall in full swing, we must prepare for those picture-perfect trips to the local pumpkin patches and apple orchards, or even for a simple walk down the crisp leaf-covered sidewalks. But before you go hopping into the car or running out the door, you need a picture-perfect outfit to match the picture-perfect occasion. Don’t get me wrong, the classis leggings, UGGs and oversized sweaters are a look that I often wear in the fall and winter months, but you can only wear leggings for so long. Fall can be a great time to switch up your usual style. I know that as a college student it’s easy to roll of bed and put on the articles of clothing that are closest to you—which in my case basically consists of running shorts (that are rarely worn for actual running) and an oversized souvenir T-shirt that I most likely got on a past family vacation—and you can’t forget about the old, trusty Nikes. When the weather starts turning, I enjoy changing my look and actually dressing like a functioning human being.

One of my favorite ways to dress in the fall is to keep the base of my outfit fairly simple and then add a nice detailed jacket and some fun shoes. Keeping everything super comfortable is the way to go in any session. Today, I throw on a medium-wash, ripped jean with a classic, red-and-white striped top. Adding the trench coat really ties everything together. Then, pairing the look with my beloved loafers seals the deal.

I hope I inspired a few of you to stray from your usual style and try something bold for this fall! Now go out there and find yourself a pumpkin spice latte and enjoy all of the fall festivities you can!
