STYLE GURU STYLE: European Prints

I have always loved how fashion continues to change and transform season after season. As time passes, designers create new collections that incorporate old and new trends that continue to inspire our style and wardrobes. With spring right around the corner, I have been dreaming of less layers and more sunlight. One of my favorite collections this season is Valentino’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This collection incorporated Italian-inspired looks reminiscent of the beautiful artwork and rich color seen throughout Italy.

Much like Italian culture, Valentino’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection included colorful dresses with floral prints. Other pieces incorporated intricate beading, draped fabrics, pastel colors and loose-fitting shapes to complete the collection. One of the reasons why I’m obsessing over this beautifully crafted collection is due, in part, to my summer travel plans. As I will be studying abroad this summer in Florence, Italy, I will definitely be pulling this inspiration into my own overseas wardrobe.

What I love most about this collection are the bold prints. For my outfit, I chose an architecturally-printed drop waist dress. Although most of the prints in this collection were lighter, I went for a darker print that better suits my personal style. Since it’s finally warming up a bit, I can get away with a short mini dress. As always, my look wouldn’t be complete without some black booties. As far as accessories go, I’ve been loving turquoise jewelry, which really pops against the dark print. I will definitely be referencing this spring 2015 show over the next few months, and especially in my upcoming travels.
