STYLE GURU STYLE: Erdem All Day

The fashion world’s love affair with florals is a long-standing, passionate relationship that shows no sign of ending, and truthfully, I am probably its number one supporter. Florals are classic and wearable in absolutely any season, not just the warmer months. They can be dressed up in a floor-length gown or dressed down in a loose summer tank top, but either way they complete any look. Erdem’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear show is the embodiment of how florals should be presented and worn. It’s clear Erdem loves a delicate and dramatic floral as much as I do and thus I created this look inspired by their bohemian yet chic collection.

Almost every look in the Erdem show was either sheer, floral or a delightful combination of the two. Sheer dresses have been in style for years, and an awards ceremony or celeb function isn’t complete without at least one. I happen to have one in my closet I got at a major discount at an Urban Outfitters’ surplus store a few years ago. I’m not quite bold enough to bare it all underneath the dress though, so I slipped on a black crop top from H&M and some black cycling shorts. Other great options would be to wear a slip underneath the dress or a simple bodysuit with shorts. I love how this dress has so many stylish features, a collar, a button-up front and a cinched waist, but is still effortless looking. Following in the footsteps of Erdem, I paired the dress with my favorite pair of lace-up leather gladiator sandals from Free People. They are comfortable and perfect for hot summer days; I’m just hoping I don’t accidentally get a weird tan halfway up my leg!

Erdem kept the jewelry fairly nonexistent for this particular collection, but I couldn’t resist adding a simple gold chain necklace and one of my recent purchases: a gold arm cuff from Forever 21. It’s completely on trend for this season and is minimal enough not to distract from the rest of the look. On this particular day, I didn’t put on much makeup but I paid homage to the super bright and flushed cheeks and peachy lip at the Erdem show with coral lipstick. Summer is the perfect time to whip out those bold shades and what better pairing than with a classic floral dress?
