STYLE GURU STYLE: Electric Feel

I’m going to make a bold statement and go ahead and say that Mara Hoffman is one of my top 10 favorite designers. Her spring 2015 show was all about her usual bright electric prints but she also went out of the box and added some more simple pieces, including some white gowns. I just can’t get enough of it.

I translated this runway trend into my own look by mixing a little bit of both of Hoffman spring 2015 trends. I started with a more simple base, the black and white shift dress. You can’t go wrong with investing in a good striped shift dress; I find myself going to my closet for it weekly. I added the brightly patterned bomber jacket to tie the two pieces together. The tip to mixing patterns is putting a more simple patterns with a more complex piece. I always suggest to do stripes with another pattern; it will never let you down.

Hoffman is known for her bright electric prints and that’s what drew me to this bomber jacket in the first place. Ohio springs are all over the place temperature-wise so a good bomber jacket is a must for us Northerners. I topped this style off by adding my favorite white JES Design’s Studio druzy stone necklace and simple Louis Vuitton clutch, another one of my favorite staple pieces.

Do you have any tips for mixing neon patterns?
