STYLE GURU STYLE: Effortless Style

The Tory Burch resort 2016 collection caught my eye as soon as I saw it because of the interesting prints, colors and accessories. The collection features outfits inspired by the southwest. The majority of the pieces were very relaxed with soft colors and minimal accessories. Most of the looks featured dresses, which are my favorite to wear during summer. Some dresses had a watercolor effect and others were inspired by desert flowers and cacti. The unique collection incorporates common things such as chili peppers, bananas and popsicles into the prints.

The piece that inspired my outfit was Look 20. This printed maxi dress has a busy pattern with reds, blues and golds. With this look, the model had one accessory–a necklace. While putting together my outfit I decided on a simplistic bracelet instead. I am also a big fan of the feminine cut outs in this dress, and in my personal look I went with a high slit in the dress instead. In the summer I like to wear flowing dresses like this because they are effortless, comfortable and make a statement. Look 15 in the collection also inspired me to get a printed maxi dress.

I think maxi dresses are the perfect piece to wear when you want to look and feel good, but only have limited time to get ready. With a busy maxi dress like this, you can put it on and grab an accessory and then your outfit is good to go. You don’t have to worry about putting together an outfit with multiple pieces (which is usually fun, but not when you are running low on time).

I finished this look with my favorite pair of sunglasses and a pair of metallic sandals. The looks that inspired my dress didn’t feature any shoes, but I thought a simple pair of sandals was the way to go. Overall, I think this look is perfect for summer nights, vacations and other summer events.

Get My Look: 1. Printed maxi dress. 2. Simple jewelry. 3. Metallic sandals.
