STYLE GURU STYLE: Dusting it Off

As seen in street style and runway shows, duster coats are a rising trend of the fall season. Many designers used their trend forecasting skills by incorporating this simple piece into their fall collections. Ryan Roche’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection had many floor length pieces with three simple colors throughout: shades of pink, tan and black. These monotone and effortless looks heavily influenced my fall wardrobe.

I loved the natural colors and lengths used in Ryan Roche’s designs. To turn the trends seen in his collection into my own, I chose to wear two colors instead of one. My camel colored coat goes with just about everything. The lightweight fabric makes it perfect for the in-between weather of this season. Once it cools down, you can easily wear a sweater underneath to make it heavier and last through the end of the year!

To not mess with the way my coat naturally falls on my body, I wore a pair of black skinny jeans. Since I didn’t want my outfit to fall flat, I chose a lace black blouse to add dimension. Knowing a long coat could swallow up my small body, I wanted some added height. My leather booties were perfect for this. Not only did the small heel work to my advantage, but also the pointed toe gave an illusion of added height by elongating my legs.

I kept my accessories very minimalist, as did Ryan Roche. I applied a deep purple lipstick to step up my everyday makeup routine. I love adding a matte lipstick to any outfit because it is an easy way to completely transform your look.

Whether it be a trench, duster or robe coat, you should definitely invest in this stylish coat that will last years. The effortless look will stay on trend long into the future. If you are on the petite side of the spectrum like I am, do not be scared to try out this trend. Add your favorite heeled booties and strut your stuff. And remember: #fallislife.
