STYLE GURU STYLE: Dressed Down Leather

Hello again stylish peeps. I know, you’re probably thinking, “where is this girl’s coat?!” New York weather has always amazed me, especially in the winter. Some days it could be 50 degrees and sunny out, and the next day it may be in the negatives with a blizzard. Gotta love the East Coast.

This ensemble inspiration came from the Rodarte fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This collection is so edgy, and embodies everything that I’m into this season: lace, leather, asymmetrical hemlines, necklaces, furs, tights, sequins and knee-high boots.

Normally I would recreate a very similar edgy look, but I dressed it down, focusing more on staple pieces that have been all over the runway this season. Yep you guessed it: turtlenecks and leather. These pieces were trendy in the fall and so trendy that they’re carried into winter!

I’ve been searching for a versatile turtleneck that is lightweight and can be worn with anything, so I turned to Forever 21 for a quick fix. And don’t worry if your turtleneck is a little see-through; you can make it look chic. What’s great about a turtleneck is that it can be so fashionable, yet comfy at the same time. It’s the perfect layering piece because it’s so skin-hugging and looks incredible tucked into a high-waisted hem.

Now onto this miraculous leather skirt. I love the brick color, it’s very fall-y/winter-y and I knew it would be super versatile. From the gold hardware, to the incredible fit, this skirt had my heart from the start. What originally drew me to this must-have was that it was both leather and asymmetrical. I hadn’t seen this cut in stores before, so as soon as I spotted it I had to have it.

I always love to throw in a necklace that isn’t distracting from my outfit, but yet adds to it. Marble has been really hot lately, so I had to snag this marble/gold necklace.

To finish off this look, I paired it with tall black boots and white knee-highs. I grabbed my go-to cross-body bag: a studded Michael Kors clutch that is the perfect clutch for those girls nights out.

Get My Look: 1. Turtleneck. 2. Skirt. 3. Necklace.
