STYLE GURU STYLE: Dress Up Or Dress Down!

Neutrals are my favorite. When I’m in a pinch for time, the most effortless outfits are formed with my huge inventory of neutral pieces—and there is nothing more neutral than denim. Rachel Comey’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection is definitely ready to wear! Filtering into a street style that is being taken up on college campuses, Comey’s denim-filled collection is a great combination of on-trend denim ensembles and a ’90s kind of nostalgia that I just love

Of course, the runway show was not replicated exactly onto the streets. Here, we have my take on the denim on denim trend that has also been a style welcomed to the University of Iowa campus. On my campus, denim is a casual look that can be worn to class, a study day, or a casual meal on the patio.

While it is still summer on campus, I look forward to sporting the heavier pieces that are found in Comey’s show. Denim jackets lined with fur and heavy trench coat-like pieces are easily translated for the colder weather that will inevitably hit the Midwest within the next few months.

My take on this amazing trend is an outfit that can be worn every day. It is comfortable and simple to dress up if need be. I like to kick this outfit up just a bit with minimalist silver jewelry and a neutral flat shoe. Within the next few months I will switch out my jean shorts for the on-trend flair jean and a warmer denim jacket after being inspired by Rachel Comey’s show.

Get My Look: 1. A denim jacket. 2. A neutral flat. 3. Dress it up or down with jewelry.
