STYLE GURU STYLE: Dress For Success

One of my favorite fashion staples is a beautiful dress. My closet just happens to have a lot of these staples. I love dresses because they’re comfortable and classy. They can be simple and casual or dressed up for a night on the town. Whenever I look at runway shows, it’s the dresses that always catch my eye. When I saw the Timo Weiland 2016 resort collection I immediately fell in love. The color palette was a beautiful combination of blues, whites and blacks. Wieland’s collection left me wanting to have a picnic on the beach or a stroll through a quaint village with an ice cream cone. Basically, Weiland’s collection is elegant, simple and casual.

When I first tried to emulate Weiland’s collection I was a little nervous. Blue and black don’t always go well together and I wanted to look like I just stepped off the runway, not like I didn’t know how to match. Weiland’s collection avoids this problem with minimalistic ensembles as his collection is neutral and natural. By keeping the components of his collection relatively plain, they mix and match together very well.

I followed in Weiland’s footsteps with my T-shirt dress and color palette. With a cool mix of blues and black I hoped to capture the simplicity of Weiland’s collection. I accessorized with a few bracelets and rings, and mixed and matched different metals. I finished off my look with chunky sandals.
