STYLE GURU STYLE: Don’t Deny Denim

We are in the midst of a denim overload in the upcoming collections for spring 2015. Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Michael Kors break out the denim this upcoming 2015 season. We can’t get rid of denim; no matter how many seasons we go through, denim follows. Specifically, the Michael Kors runway show features wide leg denim jeans, denim tailored tops and even dark denim blazers. But how do we incorporate the runway look in a casual college setting? One way to incorporate is a collared button-down denim shirt. It is a signature piece in their collections and also a must-have in my wardrobe. What I love about this button-down shirt is you can pair it with anything. This button-down is perfect to throw on with a plain white T-shirt and make a simple look, a classic look. However, for the upcoming spring season, this button-down will be perfect to pair with white pants and some simple flats.

So today I decided to pair my classic denim shirt with my white T-shirt, a gold wishbone necklace, black leggings and simple black combat boots. I went for this look because I wanted to engage in the simplicity of this outfit with a touch of femininity.  By combining these simplistic styles, I took the classic look of the runway and made it original to my style.

As far as my style is considered, it’s important to keep it simple and stay true to what I like. By adding small details to this outfit and layering with denim, I demonstrated a designer runway look with my own touch. Take risks with your style, and don’t be afraid to get inspired from the runway.

Get My Look: 1. Denim button-down shirt. 2. Wishbone necklace. 3. Black leggings. 4. Black combat boots.
