STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim Daze

With only a few weeks left until I head back to school, I decided that it is time to get a head start on the fall trends. After analyzing a variety of fall ready-to-wear runway shows, I concluded that denim is one of the hottest fabrics of the season. Everyone from Marc Jacobs to Jeremy Scott is using denim in their own unique way. It’s not only being used for jeans, but also for dresses, jackets and other articles of clothing.

One brand that really caught my eye with their denim designs is Marques’ Almeida. I had never heard of the brand until their recent collaboration with Topshop last year. Marques’ Almeida is now known for bringing back ’90s trends in their designs and specifically in their distressed denim. Now I am excited to share with you a look I put together with inspiration from Marques’ Almeida’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

In the look pictured above, I am wearing a button-up denim top. This top reminds me of the ones worn on the Marques’ Almeida runway because of the rough, frayed edges that give off the ‘90s vibe. Since I am jumping ahead to a fall trend, I decided to pair my denim top with lace Free People biker shorts; these shorts keep the look summery and comfortable for the humid climate. My adorable Raen sunglasses also contribute to making my look functional for the sunny weather. The necklace I am wearing adds a little pop of color and brings out the pink in my sunglasses. Another way that I stayed within the summer season was with my color choices. The white lace, denim fabric and light brown leather create a great color palette for a summer look. With a quick change of colors, the look can be transitioned from summer to fall.

The great thing about being a season ahead is that I can re-use this new denim top in a fall look. I can imagine the top looking great with something like a pair of maroon pants, brown boots and a slouchy cardigan.
