STYLE GURU STYLE: Déjà Vu

Happy end of the semester Fashionistas/os! Let’s time travel back to the blissful summers of the ’90s. It was a time when you would take care of your Tamagotchi’s every need, but what summer styles were you rocking? My best guess is that they involved some kind of strappy tank top, jelly sandals and, of course, a jean skirt.

Although they fell off the radar for a while, our favorite jean skirts have made their comeback! From light wash to dark wash and distressed to embroidered, denim skirts are back in a variety of lengths and shades. Madewell’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection embodied this trend adding feminine and vintage touches along the way. This collection was full of denim bottoms, off-the-shoulder tops and strappy sandals.

In my outfit, I took the distressed route. I wore my light wash Forever 21 skirt, and then paired it with a gorgeous off-the-shoulder long sleeve, which was obviously inspired by Sandra Dee from Grease. To finish off my look, I chose a classic pair of aviators, a skinny black belt and a fun pair of lace-up gladiator sandals.

Fashion is constantly repeating itself. Many trends we never thought to be resurrected become most beloved years later in current fashion. It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right. So, if you’re looking to evoke a definite ’90s vibe into your warm weather wardrobe, this outfit is perfect for spring and totally on-trend with Madewell’s collection.

Get My Look: 1. Off-the-shoulder top. 2. A ’90s denim skirt. 3. A pair of strappy sandals.
