STYLE GURU STYLE: De-Stress with Distressed Denim

I confess: I am officially obsessed with distressed denim. Ripped jeans have come and gone in the past. We all know that trends circulate every couple of years and as seasons change. I urge you not to get rid or throw out some of the major, trendy fashion pieces like your fringe booties, tie-dye rompers or lace shorts. I have looked all over to find a cool pair of jeans that have frayed ankles. My eyes got so wide (and I cannot lie, I almost screamed) when I came across these to-die-for jeans from Zara. They were on sale, too, which sealed the deal for me to purchase them. They are a staple in my wardrobe now because I can wear them with anything.

The fall 2015 ready-to-wear Marques Almeida runway show inspired me the most to search for the perfect pair of ripped jeans. I love the way that the outfits incorporated distressed denim, frayed denim and acid washed denim. Jeans have been around for such a long time, but it is awesome to see that they are an American classic that never goes out of style.

I always style these distressed jeans with shoes like these American Eagle slip on platform sneakers. I like to wear shoes that show off the denim fraying at the bottom of the jeans. I paired my jeans with a cute, chunky sweater and a Kensie cross-body bag. Distressed denim is great to wear to class or on a casual date. When searching for a pair of ripped jeans, make sure you have in mind if you want light washed, dark washed or even black jeans.

Get My Look: 1. Distressed and frayed jeans. 2. Slip-on platform sneakers. 3. Chunky sweater.
