STYLE GURU STYLE: Day to Play

I can’t say enough how much I’ve been into ’70s revamps this season, and working as a stylist for Free People just adds to my habit of purchasing ’70s-inspired wear! The day that this denim jumpsuit came into our inventory, at least four of us bought it right away. It’s so cool to see old trends recycled to fit each generation, and this look has definitely been one of my favorites this summer.

In styling this look, I took inspiration from Misha Nonoo’s resort 2016 collection. Although this jumpsuit isn’t dark wash denim like in the collection, I still decided to pair it with a white bandeau. Like Nonoo, who refers to this collection as look that translate from “day to play,” I think that this jumpsuit can easily transfer from a less casual event, like work or a meeting, to a more playful and fun event, like lunch with friends or even a concert.

Jumpsuits and rompers are definitely a favorite amongst college students, but the fact that this one is entirely denim adds a cool and vintage flair to it—my favorite! To add another cute aspect to this jumpsuit, which features an awesome criss cross pattern on the back, I paired it with a strappy white bandeau, also from Free People. I also love the fact that this jumpsuit has a tie around the waist, it lets your figure show through instead of making your body look like a box. Together, the different patterns and shapes show a visually appealing spin on an old trend.

From “day to play,” this outfit is perfect for almost any summer event. It’s comfortable and fashionable and definitely receives awesome complements from fellow Fashionistas.
