STYLE GURU STYLE: Dare to Silver Hardwear

As I said in my Style Guru Bio, there is something great about a crisp, white button-down. The simplicity and structure is timeless, while the opportunities to style are endless. It’s the perfect blank canvas. This button-down shift dress is from Loft and it’s the most versatile dress I own. I would sport it a lot to the office when I was interning, but also around town with a pair of sneakers. Its structure and silhouette make you look stylish and put together, but let’s be real, I just threw on a dress and called it a day! In my opinion, this dress is a wardrobe staple.

When it came down to styling this look, I used my bag as a focal point. I bought this Alexander Wang Mini Rockie when I was in New York and it has become my child. I actually put a seat belt on it once (no shame). It’s a beautiful beet red with bold, silver studs on the bottom. Keeping all the hardware the same, I wore strappy, black flats from Zara with silver detailing and buckles. The contrast of black and white is eye-catching and shows more of my personal style. I finished off with a few of my everyday rings and my Karen Walker sunglasses that never fail me.

What I choose to wear on any given day really depends on how I feel. Some days all I want to wear are denim cut-offs and a basic top and others I ball out. However, this look resembles the DNA of my personal style. It’s polished, yet easy going and comfortable. You should always feel comfortable in what you are wearing or it’s probably not worth it.
