STYLE GURU STYLE: Damsel in Distressed Jeans

One of my favorite designers to follow and derive inspiration from for several years now has been Elizabeth and James. The Elizabeth and James spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection inspired me to put this look together. The collection is very simplistic and chic; it consists mainly of flowy skirts and tops, slouchy bags and loose fitting pants and jeans. Out of the entire collection Look one in particular is what inspired me; it is a very simple summer outfit with a pair of distressed jeans, a simple tube top, sandals and a belt.

To bring this runway look into my own everyday style I adapted it to the recent warming of the winter weather. It has been possible to go out without a heavy jacket but not quite warm enough for a tube top. Instead I went for a plain charcoal T-shirt with slits on the sides for a little something different. It was important to me to stick to the focus of the outfit, the jeans. I dug in my closet for a pair of extremely distressed jeans similar to those on the model.

A nice pair of booties is a great way to bring this very summer outfit into the beginning of spring. This pair from Sam Edelman has a low heel that adds a bit of height but still remains comfortable. As a final touch a I added classic light beige bucket bag from Urban Outfitters and pair of black Gucci sunglasses to pull the whole look together.

Get My Look: 1. Distressed boyfriend jeans. 2. Neutral bucket bag. 3. Plain T-shirt. 4. Classic black sunglasses. 5. Tan booties.
