STYLE GURU STYLE: Crochet the Way

One thing that I love most about my style is that I always like to switch it up. One day I’ll want to wear boyfriend jeans and a band T-shirt, and the next day I’ll want to wear a sundress. I like the idea of outfits expressing how different you feel each day. I grew some interest in Nanette Lepore’s specific fashion sense. The brand of her clothes include the hippie feel, while bringing back the feminine and girly side in each article of clothing. Some of the outfits that I have worn recently have been less on the girly or feminine side. It was refreshing to be inspired by Nanette Lepore’s resort 2016 collection to show some love to my feminine style side.

One thing that I loved about this collection was how perfectly it mixed lace, crochet, knit, solid colors and prints. Specifically, I was in love with the crochet and knit details. Crochet and knit tops are a big trend for summer 2015, and I could not resist buying one. The only thing that I struggled with while wearing the shirt is what to wear for bottoms. I went back and forth between high-waisted shorts, jeans or a skirt. After looking at the pictures from the resort 2016 collection, I knew that I wanted to make this outfit more feminine.

To translate the feminine and crochet effect of the collection, I decided to wear my crochet top with a black maxi skirt. My black maxi skirt has a slit in it that I adore, and I think that it helps the outfit bring out the girly side. For shoes, I am wearing vintage sandals from Costa Rica.
