STYLE GURU STYLE: Cowl Neck

The usual tomboy flare seemed to be less of an inspiration for the Elizabeth & James fall 2015 line, which was recently presented. There were many body-slimming yet chunky outerwear pieces on the runway that demonstrated a great balance between being sexy and covered up, which is the “Olsen way.”  The colors were mellow, but sharp tailoring still created a crisp vibe. The thing that attracted me the most to this line was the accessibility; there are so many pieces that could go from day to night. Tote bags were the main accessories that made the line feel real for the on the go, working woman.

For my Friday class, I decided to switch it up. I wore something I could stay in all day and also wear out to dinner with my girlfriends. Instead of making multiple wardrobe changes in a day, it was time to commit to an outfit for more than six hours. Elizabeth & James featured many cool, darker colors, which were easy for me to find in my closet since I tend to opt for a darker palette. I grabbed my favorite olive cowl neck sweater from Madewell and paired it with black joggers. These are my favorite because they are comfortable and stylish. Since it is still winter, I chose my white jacket and a simple beanie to keep me warm.

The fall 2015 line inspired me to try more combinations that transition from day to night. I loved the result of this outfit and cannot wait to find more inspiration within this line. It kept me feeling confident, comfortable and feminine-chic!

Get My Look: 1. Cowl neck sweater. 2. A simple, tailored coat. 3. An oversized tote.
