STYLE GURU STYLE: Cool Corduroy

If you haven’t checked out Stockholm’s fall 2016 Show yet, I advise you to stop what you are doing and do so now. Did you like what you saw? I did.

Inspired by the Stockholm show, I chose to pair my outfit with a cool coat. Sometimes coats can make or break whether your outfit is going to look on point. Over the past year of fashion, one of my favorite experiences has been entering a store that’s filled with used furniture, used electronics and used clothing. It is a wonderful feeling entering, looking at all of the disaster that lies before your eyes and coming out with an article of clothing that looks fabulous. In this occasion, I came out with one of my favorite fabrics, corduroy.

I paired my coat, which I got from a thrift store in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, with a black jumpsuit. Although the black jumpsuit is simple because it is black, it does have a cropped shirt that gives it a slightly more elegant look. Even though my coat is from a thrift store, it is still considered trendy when compared with today’s fashion. The corduroy beige material is very appealing since it gives this outfit some unique elements. I wanted to give this look a fancier touch, so I paired it with a pair of heeled boots that I obtained from Urban Outfitters (and for a steal, too!).

Due to the simplicity of the outfit, I added a silver necklace that would stand out. To finish off my look, I applied black lipstick. It screams, “look at me” and enhances the black and beige colors I had going on. I love this look because it says a lot about the person that I am, which is very simple, yet sophisticated in my own ways.

Get My Look: 1. A corduroy fur lined jacket. 2. Necklace. 3. Boots.
