STYLE GURU STYLE: Colorful Prints

I absolutely loved Monique Lhuillier resort 2016 collection because of the relaxed feel and the fun patterns she experimented with. Lhuillier did not want her collection to be labeled as any specific style. She wanted to play around with the, “intricate embroidery to electric cobalt lace to dizzying surreal prints,” to create something that was ultra unique and superbly different from collections of past seasons. I felt that I was successful in translating Monique Lhuillier’s color palette from her resort 2016 show into my everyday wardrobe.

By taking inspiration from Lhuillier’s collection, I started my look with my favorite abstract patterned skirt. I then paired it with my favorite white camisole from LOFT and added a bralette from Urban Outfitters. I topped it off with a light wash denim shirt, a drop necklace, nude ballerina flats and my favorite Fendi bag, which is one of my favorite neutral bags to pair with all of my outfits.

I love this look because it is perfect for so many occasions. First of all, it is a perfect everyday look because of the casual and comfortable vibe that the denim shirt and nude ballet flats add to it. I also love it because it can easily be made into a more formal or business casual look by adding heels, wedges or a blazer. The best part about this look is that it does not exude an overly simplistic attitude and it allows room for multiple translations of the abstract style.

Get My Look: 1. Put on an abstract patterned skirt. 2. Add a neutral top. 3. Add a neutral pair of shoes that suit your outfit.
