What can be found awaiting you at the end of a rainbow is a bit of a mystery. It could be a Leprechaun with a pot of gold or possibly an endless supply of skittles. Maybe it’s even every World Cup soccer team, a $500 gift card to Target or Mara Hoffman’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection. Oozing with ROYGBIV-inspired prints, Hoffman’s collection offers a variety of silhouettes. From flowing maxi dresses to high-waisted pants to a bathing suit, she doesn’t miss a note.
Although I have a great appreciation for neutral shades and the occasional entirely solid outfit, I’ve always been a fan of colorful garments. My closet speaks for itself, as you will find a hot pink maxi skirt and a bright orange dress among multiple bright tops. Given my affinity for lots of print and bold colors, everything about Hoffman’s collection spoke to me.
In an attempt to capture the fun and happiness exuded in her collection, I threw on a tribal print sundress and the only shoes with a heel I can walk in. Since the dress features pom-pom details and a crisscross back, I kept my accessories simple with a nautical-inspired necklace and my go-to watch. Even though I’ve endured years of Georgia summers, I still have no use for the heat, which is why I went sans outerwear. Normally, I always like to add a layer or have a bit more going on in my look, but sometimes, the simpler the better.
Incorporating color into your wardrobe doesn’t have to be a burden. So draw some inspiration from your next bag of skittles and pick out a bold skirt and top or bright cardigan for a change of pace.
