When getting ready for that special interview, the big thought on every Fashionista’s mind is: “what do I wear?” You want to impress your potential employer, but don’t want to seem over the top. If I am in an outfit that I love, I feel ten times more confident in any situation. The key is to find something you feel comfortable in, but that is still appropriate.
The kate spade new york spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection includes pieces that are perfect for this situation. The bright colors, fun fabrics and cool shapes are stylish, but still give off a professional vibe. Her line includes classic pieces; with the right accessories, these garments can even be perfect for a night out with friends.
To match this collection, I styled a hot pink polka-dot pencil skirt with a white peplum top. I then added floral wedges from TOMS shoes. I always get nervous when mixing patterns, but the pink in the wedges matched the skirt so perfectly that I couldn’t resist! I accessorized in gold with a small monogram necklace, a charm bracelet and my favorite gold hoop earrings. I added Steve Madden sunglasses and a tan Jessica Simpson tote.
I may have a bohemian style, but outfits like these also make my heart melt. Wearing something preppy and classic is a nice change. The bright colors are not my usual scene, but to me, this is much more exciting than plain black pants and a matching blazer for an interview. This outfit wakes me up, makes me feel confident and will hopefully make me be remembered!
