STYLE GURU STYLE: City Chic

Hey friends! I am super excited to be joining you for a second semester! More importantly, I am super excited to be joining you for the fall semester. I just finished my first week of the semester. All over campus this week I saw so many Fashionistas/Fashionistos in my favorite trends; from the adidas Stan Smith’s to the T-shirt dress, I was inspired everywhere I looked. However, my favorite trend at the moment has to be the choker. I love that there are so many different shapes, sizes, colors and materials of chokers. A choker can spice up any outfit in two seconds. If you’re always on the go like me, this trend is the one for you because it is effortless, yet it truly makes the look.

Now that summer is nearly over, dark colors are coming out to play. I have waited all year to strut the black-on-black trend and finally, I can. Personally, I like to follow more than one trend when putting an outfit together. For this look, I combined the black, faded and distressed skinny jean with the long, slit cut, black top, a black choker and nude chunky heels. We have seen this style top transcend season to season and for fall 2016, it is back again. Jeans are always a good go-to when you are unsure of what bottoms to choose. I love these American Eagle Outfitters jeans because they are super stretchy and comfy. Lastly, we have seen the block heel all over the place during every season. I love the look of an all black outfit with a different colored shoe. And you know me, if I can wear more than one neutral, I will! A classy nude colored heel is another timeless piece and definitely worth the investment. Add in the fact that it’s got a chunky heel (which means you can last more than four hours in them) and I’m sold!

Whether you are going to work, class or enjoying a night out on the town, this look is perfect for the minimalistic, comfort-seeking and trend-following gal. I hope you try it out sometime! Trendy pieces + comfort = a good time, am I right?
