STYLE GURU STYLE: Cheesecloth Struttin’

July 13th, 2015 at 2:00am

With the sun blazing hot, there is a constant reminder that summer is among us. It is hard to ignore the heat outdoors, and trying to create a stylish, heat-repelling outfit may not come as easy as it should. So what should you wear when it is ridiculously hot out and shorts or pants are not an option? How about a dress made of cheesecloth material?

The dress I am wearing is inspired by the Chloé 2015 spring ready-to-wear collection. According to Style.com, the creative director of Chloé, Clare Waight Keller stated “the starting point was fabrics that tell stories…” and I have to agree that this particular fabric definitely tells a story.

Cheesecloth is a trendy textile. It is used to make shirts, dresses and pants along with many other things. No matter the uses of cheesecloth, it takes the appearance of “cool and comfortable” to an entirely different level. The great thing about cheesecloth is it can be worn at any event, formal or casual. Cheesecloth, much similar to linen in texture and appearance, is a lightweight material. This makes it fantastic to wear for a breezy feeling in the scorching summer heat.

Going to a sports event? Pair some wide leg cheesecloth pants with a camisole and a pair of Keds sneakers or flats and you will be looking sporty and casual. Wanting to look more formal? Step into some nice pumps for a dressier look.
