STYLE GURU STYLE: Cheers to 2017!

It’s on! Time to make a little fashion magic happen here with 2017.

I can honestly express how, with my first semester of college under my belt, these experiences have brought along what I would call not only an incredible new season of life, but a sense of discovery in so many ways. I certainly can say that this newfound sense of discovery has come along with transitioning and experimenting with my personal style. From rooming with a super cool gal from a small town in Indiana with trendy, yet simplistic style, to adjusting to living in the quaint little town of Bloomington, to leaving behind my hometown only minutes from the city where I was once wearing flirty jumpsuits and bold statement pieces. The result was a major mash-up of style exploding from our small little dorm room.

Introducing small town style to city style was pretty freaking cool, but I still kept being that one girl walking around campus at 9 a.m. in booties, jeans, and arms full of bangles. With a quick stop home for winter break, I shopped local, as my passion for small business drew me back to my workplace for a little familiar fun.

I came back to campus in full force with one of my favorite looks on lock. Madewell, a “Cali-chic” inspired line housing an amazing denim haven, quickly became my latest obsession with funky flare jeans paired with fringe details and topped with an adorable looser-fitting highroad popover plaid top. Unsurprisingly, those items became my staples. Grabbing these adorable round sunglasses, a simple mantra band, and rings gave this look an effortless feel. I fell in love with these dark studded booties, giving the look a little edgy influence from home.

As second semester reeves back up, I’m beyond excited to grab influence from all the amazingly talented apparel majors on campus and expand my style to reflect all the diversity and incredibly creative vibes here on campus. Here’s to a year of finding myself creatively and personally. Can’t wait for a RAD semester.
