One of the fashion trends that really caught my eye this season was the use of checks and gingham. This trend has really evolved as time has gone by. Now, we welcome the new takes on this trend, like the modern silhouettes and different colors. Despite the fact that the checks and gingham trend has existed for a long time, we can now tell that it is here to stay. Major designers are including this popular trend in their collections. This is not only happening for summer collections, but also for the fall ones.
For summer, we have a great opportunity to get inspired by designers like Diane von Furstenberg, who had an interesting take on the trend by utilizing it on sundresses and crop tops. On the other hand, we have designers like Tory Burch who played with this trend in order to make it appropriate for fall. This can be seen in the way checker print was used on coats.
Personally, I felt the need to try this trend at least once during the summer. However, I wanted a casual outfit that would be useful for day to night transitions. Then, I came across a look from Elizabeth & James, and I was inspired. The look seemed casual and comfortable, and yet it was also a look I could dress up easily.
My outfit consists of very simple items like a pair of high-waisted black pants, a checked crop top, a pair of combat boots and a kate spade new york pink handbag. I added the pink handbag because I felt the need to have at least one element containing color on the outfit. After all, summer is characteristically bright and colorful. This outfit looks simple, yet simple changes can make an enormous difference. I could easily change the shoes for a pair of high heels, and I would be ready for a night out in town.
