School is starting back up at West Virginia University, which means it’s fair game for a toga party invite to be in your near future. Besides the typical toga sheath, whimsical silhouettes are the next big thing in runway couture. Now runway isn’t the only level of fashion royalty being broken down into simple yet refined concepts. To me, the fall 2014 couture line is something special. It’s more than just the usual runway lookbooks that fashion critics get every fall and spring. For Valentino to have created such a relatable couture line, it’s only right for us Fashionistas to take advantage. The fall couture 2014 collection staples include gladiator sandals and goddess-inspired dresses. Need I say more?
I know we may not be awaiting the dropping temperature, but the knee-high boots are a staple that I know everyone misses (even if it’s just a little!). Just like the ever-popular mesh sweater, gladiator sandals that have the potential of wrapping the the knee are sure to hold you over. What a great invention! Madewell has a great variety of gladiator sandals. Finally, there’s a perfect excuse for a shopping break in-between classes. Don’t get it twisted, gladiator sandals are a definite staple for any goddess. However, I have to express the alternatives to Fashionistas that need more support in their shoes. Don’t forget to grab a pair of fun Birkenstocks on your way out of the mall!
Whimsical silhouettes can be tricky. I don’t want any Fashionista to get the impression that it isn’t achievable for their body type. These dresses do tend to show a weak contoured structure. However, the windswept hem is this dress’ most comfortable feature. Although, the numerous ways that Grecian dresses are being styled today leads to a satisfying selection. From plunging necklines to scoop-neck coverage, your decollete will have never looked better! I chose a silhouette with a midi hem and spaghetti strap top. If you want to add a little extra drape to your dress, it’s negotiable! Wrap a thin scarf around your neckline or tie it in the back to let the breezy chiffon hang aimlessly for an effortless look. I swear it will make up for the lack of the gladiator sandal if you choose to go the comfort route. No matter what location you’re in, you need to allow your true self to come out in your style.
