STYLE GURU STYLE: Chambray Down South

April 10th, 2015 at 2:10am

Hey Fashionistas/os! Last week was finally Kent State’s Spring Break. It seemed liked it took forever to get here. I was more than excited to travel to Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia to finally get a taste of the warm weather this year. I was beginning to think we lived in a world without spring. I couldn’t decide if I was more excited for the trip itself or being able to pack all of my outfits.

As I sat in the dreary Ohio cold in the days leading up to my departure, I came across an amazing denim jumpsuit from Frame Denim’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Everything about the entire look screamed “cool girl” to me. I loved that the ensemble had a bit of a ‘70s vibe as well! I immediately knew I had to find a way to recreate this effortless look. Fast forward a week or so, and I was packing my chambray jumpsuit for the day in Savannah. If I’m being honest, chambray may hold a higher place in my heart than denim.

What I loved most about this jumpsuit is that it seemed to have a very subtle gold sheen finish on the fabric when it hit the light. It made the piece feel just a little more dressier and put together versus the basic jumpsuit, yet was still amazingly comfortable! I wanted to keep the look fairly simple, since the day would be spent exploring the city. My jewelry consisted of my favorite dainty gold “H” initial necklace, a stack of Alex and Ani bangles, as well as an Alex and Ani ring. Without a doubt, my favorite accessory was my snakeskin bucket bag from Ann Taylor. I’ve been seeing bucket bags everywhere this season, and fell in love with this as soon as I saw it! Even though it looks small, there was ample room inside for all of my belongings. Although I may not have nailed the ‘70s aspect, I felt pretty “cool girl” if I may say so myself. I am so excited to take this jumpsuit and style it for day, night and every event in between!

Frame Denim’s whole collection has inspired me to play more with denim and chambray pieces this season; they’re so versatile. Pairing chambray tops with skirts or over dresses or finding an amazing denim dress with be on the top of my list for spring shopping. Pack your bags and head down south this summer. Charleston and Savannah are fabulous cities filled with some of the trendiest Fashionista/os!
