STYLE GURU STYLE: Casually Chic

The T by Alexander Wang resort collection 2015 is brilliant. From the colors to the patterns to the overall shape of the clothing, Alexander Wang puts a fun twist on athletic gear. Sporty and cozy, the collection featured an array of drop-crotch sweatpants, oversized knits and tracksuits. The beginning of the collection focuses largely on all-gray ensembles and then transitions to black and white. The looks are cozy, yet chic. He finishes the collection with bright orange, seafoam green and hunter green pieces. The color is rich and paired together, even richer. The different textures of the pieces also add a lot of depth to a simple outfit, which is kept clean and chic by maintaining the same color throughout the entire outfit.

Finals week was the perfect time to test out my Alexander Wang inspired look since I would be likely to wear sweatpants regardless. Because of the extremely warm weather, I had to alter the look and go for a tank top that I tied in a knot in the front. Normally, I would’ve worn a black oversized knit with the look. To add a bit of structure to the look, I finished off the outfit with a light-wash denim jacket and some gold necklaces to make my neck look less bare.

The main focus of the outfit is the joggers. At first glance, they seem like your basic baggy, black sweats, however, when you look closely, they contain some details that make them great for street style. First off, the leather detail on the top of the pant adds style and actually makes them less casual. The zipper where the pockets are located adds a small splash of metallic color to an all black pant, and the fitted bottoms make the joggers more flattering.

Living in the city, it’s hard to dress completely casual, so Alexander Wang shows the perfect way to dress up a casual look.

Get My Look: 1. Black or gray joggers. 2. Denim jacket. 3. A thin tank top.
