STYLE GURU STYLE: Casual Cutouts

July 28th, 2015 at 2:00am

In the modern fashion world, skin is in. Plunging necklines and high-slit dresses can be found on many runways, from many designers. The Atelier Versace spring 2015 line is no exception. Featuring cutouts, clean lines and plenty of skin, this line means business. Although this line is formal and very clean-cut, I was inspired by the high slits and cutouts.

My style is usually not very formal, but I was determined to make a look that had elements of the Atelier Versace looks. When thinking of an outfit to create after my inspiration, I knew the looks featured in the line had to be turned down multiple notches to fit my personal, mostly casual style. I decided to transform the formal looks into something that was casual and effortless.

Cutouts come in many styles and can range from very dramatic to super subtle. My look features a subtle, casual version of the cutout. My top is a light, comfortable piece that features cutouts on both sides. It allows a little skin to show without being too flashy, which makes this ensemble perfect for daytime. The brown oversized bag and shoes I paired with it add some contrast to the heather gray color of the top. I chose to put my hair up in a messy, high ponytail to emulate effortless vibes. I also kept my makeup minimal and natural.

This outfit could also become a night look, with a few small changes. By adding black skinny jeans, heels and a smaller bag, this outfit could be transformed into a perfect outfit for girl’s night out.

Whether you are feeling daring or casual, skin is in. By utilizing the many different kinds of cutouts, you can choose to show a lot or a little bit of skin.

Get My Look: 1. High-slit cutout T-shirt. 2. Oversized bag. 3. Jeans.
