STYLE GURU STYLE: Caped Crusade

It’s an odd concept to wear a cape in everyday life, but I’m not talking about superhero capes in bright colors and shiny fabrics. As seen in the Chloé fall 2015 ready-to-wear show, stylish capes are an excellent addition to any wardrobe. The capes featured in the Chloé show are definitely for fall, but when they styled the right way, you can work capes in your winter and spring wardrobes as well.

I styled my sweater cape with leggings and boots to make it through a windy day of classes and meetings. Capes are perfect to pair with jeans and leggings for when the weather is transitioning and when you want to be warm but not too warm. Capes come in so many styles and patterns, so they’re easy enough to match to any outfit and personal preference. I really like the look in the Chloé show and how the model is wearing the cape over a dress and boots. It gives her a bohemian vibe that would be great for a fall or spring wardrobe.

Although I have a personal preference for sweater capes, I also really love other varieties depending on the season. This lace fringe cape is very soft and romantic and perfect for the coming spring months, while this military cape is a perfect winter item for those still snowed in for a while longer. No matter what style cape you’re wearing, it’s impossible to go wrong as long as it fits your personal style.
