STYLE GURU STYLE: California Girl In Paris

Parisian-chic meets boho-luxe in my take on one of my current favorite runway shows at the moment, Chloé’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The show, as with many of Chloé’s collections, channeled youthful, Parisian style down to a fabulous “T.” A number of the outfits balanced a combination of airy pieces with masculine touches, and I immediately fell in love with this look rocked by Anna Ewers. This ensemble managed to incorporate a number of twists to an otherwise classic LBD ensemble, with the oversized blazer adding a menswear touch, while the black, lace detailing underneath kept things feminine. An edgy pair of black ankle boots effortlessly polished off the look, leaving one amazed at just how many styles this outfit can pull off. It’s not the easiest combination to flaunt, but Chloé shows us how to do it right.

Now, when it came to my own personal rendition, the first idea that came to mind was ultimately “California girl in Paris.” I wanted to keep things chic and structured but also flaunt my signature boho-luxe touches. To achieve this aesthetic, I kept the black blazer and cinching detail and opted for my trademark wide brim hat and a sleek pair of nude ankle strap heels. I also threw in my grid mark American Apparel mini skirt in lieu of the delicate black lace detailing underneath, as I felt it added a nice pop of pattern to an otherwise all-black look. Lastly, pops of gold from my belt buckle, watch and faux snakeskin purse served as a glamorous finishing touch. Bring it all together and you’ve got a Parisian-inspired ensemble with a few hints of boho and several splashes of luxe. All that’s missing now is a delicious latte in hand, a lovely sidewalk cafe and a spritz of some Miss Dior Cherie. Très chic, indeed.

Get My Look: 1. Faux snakeskin shoulder bag. 2. A black blazer. 3. A patterned black skirt.
