STYLE GURU STYLE: Bundle Up, Baby

My everyday winter style can be summed up in two words, cozy and prim. It’s going to be a cold season, and “bundling up” doesn’t have to mean you have to “dress down”. When it’s too cold for a peacoat, pairing simple, solid layers with a warm down parka and knit cold weather accessories can keep the Fashionista/o warm and in style.

My favorite piece to style a winter outfit around is a gray turtleneck. I can dress it up or down depending on the day, and it isn’t too thick to layer my warmest parka over. I’ve styled my turtleneck a bit more casually by wearing it with a pair of plain black jeans. I put the look together by adding a pair of high heeled black leather ankle boots from ALDO, which are my go-to booties for when I want to go out after class!

Parkas usually aren’t the easiest to style without feeling like you’re going on an expedition, but that isn’t the case with my all-black North Face Arctic down parka, which keeps me in style without having to sacrifice my warmth. It’s perfect for strolling around the outdoor holiday markets and zipped or unzipped, it doesn’t take away from your outfit underneath.

Putting a final touch on every outfit is so important to me that I wouldn’t go out without the perfect hat, scarf and/or pair of gloves on. Whenever I want to add a dope touch to my look, I wear one of my Demeanoir Toronto ribbed beanies.

While everything else I’m wearing is a basic piece, I love to add pops of something different into my winter looks with my accessories. Adding a simple yet original accent to any simple look is a foolproof way to complete it.
