STYLE GURU STYLE: Brush Your Shoulders Off

I am currently obsessed with the off-the-shoulder look for summer. Many different runway shows have displayed different versions of this trend; from romantic to gothic, off-the-shoulder is the way to go.  During the summer it can sometimes be difficult to stay cool without compromising style, but with this trend it’s possible!

For my look I drew inspiration from Chloé’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. Chloé created a very bohemian collection that can be easily translated into wearable summer fashion. The off-the-shoulder looks from this show are what influenced my ensemble here.

Lace trim and flowing pieces were seen throughout the entire collection, which lead me to choose this top. I am wearing a white off-the-shoulder top with crochet trim and three-quarter sleeves from American Rag.  There’s a hint of the same lace trim detail seen throughout Chloé’s collection in this shirt, which I love.

Even though my favorite looks in the collection are white, I do love the floral patterns of the maxi skirts and dresses. These pieces are what inspired me to choose this maxi skirt also from American Rag. The floral pattern of the skirt is what drew me to it but I also love the slit in the middle. It allows for extra movement, as well as the chance to show a little leg!

I did not want to put on too many large accessories because I wanted the focus of the outfit to be the actual clothes. I am wearing small ear jacket from Forever 21 that are not necessarily eye-catching from a distance, but do make an impact up close. I am also wearing a simple bracelet from Fossil. The bracelet has a light brown band with a gold lock and key closure that ties into the boho vibe.

For beauty, I wanted to have a simple summer look. I took a note from the Chloé show and achieved a subtle lip color from with my liquid lipstick Meet Matt(e) Hughes from TheBalm in the shade committed.  I kept the makeup look fresh and glowing with the help of my  e.l.f. Golden Bronzer to complete the look.

Get My Look: 1. Any off-the-shoulder top. 2. Patterned maxi skirt. 3. Simple earrings.
