STYLE GURU STYLE: Bringing Back The '90s

If you are reading this blog, there is a good chance that you were born in the ’90s. And let’s be real, everything was better in the ’90s. The TV shows were amazing; we had everything from Rugrats and Doug to Hey Arnold! and CatDog. Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls were ruling the radio. Classic Disney movies like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Toy Story were all box office hits during this decade. Along with all of these pop culture phenomenons, the fashion was on point; the grunge period, in particular, is my personal favorite. Tons of designers have been bringing back this style to the runways. Phillip Lim‘s fall ready-to-wear collection is the perfect example. There’s plaid, turtlenecks and even some red leather. The models look disheveled, but cool and effortless as well.

I channeled my inner ’90s girl by sporting a pretty casual ensemble to class. First, I put on my Bruce Springsteen T-shirt passed on from my Dad. I paired it with a simple pair of black leggings as well as a red flannel tied around my waist. Finally, I tossed on my beat-up Converse sneakers and my cat eye sunglasses.

’90s grunge is easy to put together, but you need the attitude to match! Be confident in your outfits and don’t over think it. It’s not about looking perfect, it’s about carrying yourself like you don’t have a care in the world!

Get My Look: 1. A band T-shirt. 2. A flannel to tie around your waist. 3. A pair of Converse sneakers.
