When thinking about his humid weather, I tend to go for lighter materials to cover my shoulders. A kimono and a simple maroon dress with tan wedges are what makes a perfect summer dressy outfit when a fancy occasion is occurring. The trend of the prints is what I want to focus on by letting my floral kimono bring out the vivid color of my dress.
Taking inspiration from the alice + olivia spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I combined simplicity with vivaciousness. In the collection, I noticed that the theme was to combine simple colors with bright prints and to create an alluring showcase with that theme. I took that theme with what clothes I had and decided to try and recreate one of the looks shown on the runway.
To achieve this idea, I started off with thinking of a color scheme in whether this color would match with this print. When I found a maroon dress that would go with my floral kimono, I was happy to see that it gave off the certain casualness and contrast in my chosen outfit.
My outfit includes a H&M maroon dress that goes down to about the lower thigh area and a Forever 21 floral kimono that is draped upon my shoulders. I completed this look by pairing the outfit with tan wedges to keep a summer vibe. I wore a simple necklace from Charming Charlie’s.
The trend of simplicity and eccentrics will never stop trying to complement each other in the fashion world. These pieces are sure to show that.
