Everyone has their guilty pleasures. Some enjoy People magazine while others rave about The Real Housewives of New York, Mine, however, is to keep up with the outfits of Aimee Song. She is a blogger with some great style and I always admire her layered necklaces and stacked rings. She is proof that anything can be styled endlessly. She is constantly reinventing her wardrobe with the same pieces and keeps each repeat looking as if it were brand new. She is one of my style icons and inspirations.
In this outfit, I channeled my inner Aimee Song along with some influence from the Elizabeth & James spring 2014 runway show. The staple of this look are the boyfriend jeans. The loose fit and the slight distressing were perfect for my casual day out. It took me a while to find the right pair of boyfriend jeans, so if the first pair you try isn’t right, don’t be discouraged. Just like with any style of pants, each brand fits a little differently. Once you find the right fit, you will never want to take them off because they are so comfortable.
To finish the look is very simple. If you look through Aimee’s Instagram, you’ll notice that she doesn’t just throw on a T-shirt and call it a day. The effortless look takes a little more than that. I chose a wrap shirt, which emulates the silhouettes of the Elizabeth & James show. The gray top keeps a neutral background for my small accessories. The orange purse contrasts with the blue stone on my necklace, which is a similar style to those that Aimee Song often features.
What I really love about all the pieces of this outfit is that they can all be carried over into other seasons. The jeans can be rolled down or worn with boots and a vest or jacket can be layered over the top for fall or winter. Aimee Song’s closet is a great example that versatility is key for any Fashionista.
