In House of Holland’s resort 2015 show, the idea of being “meek and mild” was anything but true. Every look in this collection demands attention and captures the eye in a bewitching manner. Ripped jeans, metallic T-shirts, neon zebra print, tight silhouettes, bold leopard prints, pom pom embellished shows— if you can name it, House of Holland had it. This line carried every item that conjures the idea of bold and brave style. The use of such bold patterns and materials made me feel like wearing any of these looks could transform my regular life into an actual runway. While sometimes simplicity is key, I love that House of Holland has no shame in accessorizing and mixing and matching with crazy patterns and colors. House of Holland showed me that there is no shame in wearing an outfit that might be considered a little crazy.
In an effort to be bold and brave like the outfits displayed in this House of Holland collection, I chose to wear an A-line leopard print dress with neon sandals. While I don’t own any neon zebra patterned dresses or crazy metallic T-shirts (though I wish I did), I felt like wearing a leopard print dress was an really accessible way to recreate the bold vibes displayed on the runway. To continue the idea of pairing crazy colors with bold patterns, I chose to add neon jelly shoes and a few fun bracelets to complete the look.
This resort 2015 show taught me that being bold and brave in your style doesn’t always require all new purchases. Sometimes it just takes a different perspective to see items that you have always had in your closet with fresh eyes. While it might be a bit terrifying to go against the grain and pair neon colors with crazy patterns, I think that House of Holland proves that doing things that are outside of the box can be so rewarding.
